
Michael Noone studied music at the University of Sydney and at King’s College, Cambridge (UK).
He has held teaching and research positions at the Australian National University, Cornell,
and the University of Hong Kong. His first book, Music and musicians in the Escorial liturgy under
the Habsburgs, was hailed as “a trailblazer” establishing him as an authority on Spanish Golden Age
music. His next book, Códice 25 de la catedral de Toledo, was described as “spectacular” and in 2007
he was honored by His Majesty Juan Carlos I from whom he received the coveted Premio Real Fundación in
recognition of his research, publications and performances. In 2007 Noone
was elected to the Real Academia de Bellas Artes y Ciencias
Históricas de Toledo.
